Whether you are using CORTEX to sense, or detect changes to your Roaming configurations (Read more about that here), you can use CORTEX to map partner updates to your live network inventory, highlighting affected nodes and dependencies so teams know exactly what must change.
When roaming partner and hub updates are validated, operators face the challenge of translating these into impacts on their own home network. This requires identifying affected devices, retrieving active configurations, and planning the precise changes needed.
Manually analyzing dependencies across devices is slow and error-prone, particularly when updates cascade through multiple layers of the network. A lack of automation increases risk: incorrect mappings can cause service outages, misconfigurations, and delays in implementing partner updates.
This operator was processing 150–200 validated partner and hubbing changes each month that impacted its core network elements, including HLR/HSS, MSC, SMSC, and MME. Each change required:
The Customer needed an automated way to reduce complexity, improve speed, and ensure every change was traceable and reversible.
CORTEX was deployed to automate Stage 2: CORTEX Roaming Assess for Network Impact Analysis. The system interrogated inventory and CMDBs to identify impacted devices, verified active configurations, and determined the target configuration state for each.
Dependencies between changes were automatically mapped, sequencing updates where required (e.g. for core signalling updating STP/SCCP routing before updates to the HLR/HSS, MSC/VLR and SMSC). Rollback strategies were built into every planned change to safeguard network stability.
CORTEX then generated human-readable Change Orders and created tickets directly in the operator’s Trouble Ticketing systems. Orders could be assigned to different engineering teams depending on device domain, ensuring alignment with internal processes and governance.
The automation transformed a manual, high-risk task into a structured, reliable process that ensured partner updates were accurately translated into home network changes.
